Founded in 1993, Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) is one of the leading English-language theatres in Asia.
SRT's mission is to produce outstanding theatre with an Asian spirit and help Singapore take its place among the world's cultural capitals.
Singapore Repertory Theatre's (SRT) goal is to provide a platform for Asian artists both on and off stage and to give Singaporeans and visitors the opportunity to experience Broadway, the West End and the richness of Singaporean culture.
SRT has established itself as one of Asia's leading English-language theatres. In addition to its repertoire of original work, the company has produced a number of highly popular and critically acclaimed productions of western classics starring Asian performers. These include The Glass Menagerie, Nora, Death of a Salesman, Hamlet, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Little Shop of Horrors and Art.
SRT has worked with well-known international stars such as Lea Salonga and Ming-Na Wen as well as some of the world's most sought-after directors, award-winning technical, stage, sound, lighting and costume designers. Their skill and talent have provided invaluable learning opportunities for local ractitioners.
SRT was honoured to have staged the first musical, Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress as part of the opening festival of Esplanade, Theatres on the Bay in 2002.
